For production reasons I had to completely rework the City Gate asset while retaining the flavour of the original.
The guard house above the gate was removed and a new roof built.
The gate was widened for drivability and changed while ensuring it was in keeping with other buildings in the area.
The block that the gate is in was pulled forwards to make it more imposing and add interest to the silhouette, also battlements were added to the top of the gate and the wall.
The towers were remodelled to change the outline and second tower added along with an access stair, the other roof profiles changed and blended in.
Cuts and junctions were made in the mesh for adding texture blends via a vertex colour shader.
A new texture set was created for the unique feature elements.
